Climate change is one of the most prevalent problems that every country is facing today. Due to the different human activities like burning fossil fuels to generate electricity, excessive production of plastics, and many more, climate change becomes more severe and harder to slow down. One of the sectors that are greatly affected by this problem is the sector of Agriculture. In the Philippines, there were hundreds of thousands of crops being destroyed every year caused of Climate change. Last September 25, 2022, the Philippines was hit by a Super Typhoon Carding which is considered to be one the fastest tropical storms to intensify in a Super Typhoon Category in just twenty-four hours. This super typhoon destroyed a lot of agricultural products, particularly crops. Experts believed that the fast intensification of the said the super typhoon is caused by abnormal changes in atmospheric patterns called Climate Change. Because of the abnormal change in weather and climate patterns, farmers tend to miscalculate what type of crop they should cultivate in the given time. Because of this, some crops were being destroyed by excessive rainfall or drought. Because of these problems brought by Climate Change, the inventors were motivated to create a project that will mitigate the effects of Climate Change particularly in the sector of Agriculture. The device is called ARCWaS: Automated Rain Catcher and Watering System. The main goals of this device are to save water through a rain catcher system and to promote sustainable farming through the use of automated plant care and watering system.

操作说明:

Our device is called ARCWaS: Automated Rain Catcher and Watering System and there are three main steps how to use the prototype of our project. First, it has a rain catcher, therefore you should place our project outside or in an open area, the rain catcher feature of our project is automated, therefore once the raindrop sensor detects droplets of rain, it will automatically open the rain catcher to collect rainwater. Second, our device can also detect soil moisture to determine if the plants need to be watered or not, if you want it to become automated, just switch on the relay so that when the soil moisture detects that the plants already need water, the relay will automatically turn on the water pump. Lastly, our device has also digital humidity and temperature sensor, which is used to detect the temperature and humidity of the surroundings. Knowing the humidity and temperature is vital and very important in predicting weather conditions. It has also additional features, LCD and OLED that are used to display digital outputs.
