Flood occurrence may be brought about by natural and human activities such as heavy rainfall, coastal flooding, deforestation, river overflows, poor water management, and population pressure. These cause the disasters which later on may harm, if not, kill people and destroy properties especially if they are caught unaware. Pavia is situated between two rivers-Tigum and Aganan. This is the reason why Typhoon Frank in 2008 caused losses to lives and millions worth of properties and agricultural products due to a devastating flood that rose up to 10 feet high in most areas of the town. For that reason, the project named Photovoltaic Flood Level Monitoring and Early Warning System Bot was created. It is powered by a solar panel that serves as a renewable power source. It utilizes Arduino Uno controller, ultrasonic sensor, buzzers, LEDs, scrap plastic container that serves as river basin, miniature river bank, solar panel, chargeable batteries, scrap plastic enclosure box, scrap plywood that serves as box structure and discarded computer power supply casing. The ultrasonic sensor is used to check the flood water levels in low, danger and overflow. The green LED turns on when the low flood water level is reached, the orange LED for danger and the red LED for overflow level. Simultaneously the buzzers alarm that serve as public warning system to signal the community once the flood water level reaches the danger and overflow levels, thus disaster preparedness is taken into consideration and with such device, the local authorities and concerned agencies can act promptly. A flood level monitoring and alarm bot can warn people on the possible occurrence of flood or the sudden rise of flood water to minimize or prevent damages on infrastructure or even loss of lives.
操作说明:
Turn on the power switches of the sensory system and DC motor pump. The DC motor pump pumps the water to the plastic container that acts as flood water. The ultrasonic sensor detects the flood water levels in low, danger and overflow. Then, the green LED turns on indicating the flood water low level, orange LED for danger level and red LED for overflow level. Buzzers alarm simultaneously when the flood water reaches the danger and overflow levels. Once the water drops below overflow, danger and low levels, LEDs and buzzers automatically turn off. The cycle repeats once the water level rises and drops.
