This project supports hand hygiene which covers the practice of washing hands with soap and water. Such practice can be useful especially now in these times of the pandemic to ensure safety, and more importantly to prevent illnesses. There is a great need to avoid viruses as much as possible and this means trying not to bring any bacteria at homes. Through the ultrasonic sensor, washers don’t have to touch anything until hands are clean. Since the water to be consumed and the time to be spent in washing hands are limited, this project is an excellent way to budget limited water supply. Moreover, this Automated Portable Handwashing Facility does not only conserves water and energy when used, but also during the making of it, many recycled items were utilized. This “Automated Portable Handwashing Facility” works when the sensor detects a hand or object within a 10 cm distance. When it does, water flows for 3 seconds while displaying the word “WET”. Second, the water will stop, and the display matrix will show “SOAP” for another 3 seconds. Next for 20 seconds the display matrix will show the word “SCRUB” while playing the music “wash, wash, wash your hands”. After 20 seconds, automatically water flows from the faucet with the word “RINSE” on the display matrix for 10 seconds and when the user is done rinsing, the water stops flowing automatically. The installed LED and display matrix is an additional guide for every user or student on the proper way of hand washing since it displays the 5-steps procedure in using the facility and also entertained by the music as the audio player plays the music for 20 seconds on the part that shows SCRUB in the display matrix that at the same time informs the students or user in proper hand lathering or rubbing with a soap before finally rinsing our hands with water.
